About the Artist

I have had two occupations in the past 40 some years – working with wildlife and their habitats on public land and managing wild lands protected by the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust. I have BS and MS degrees in zoology from Washington State University and the University of Guelph in Canada. Through my wildlife career, I had the good fortune to work with a wide variety of North American  animals and saw Africa’s amazing wildlife while traveling with an international group of campers. I split my time living on Whidbey Island and in Wenatchee, Washington with my wife who is also an artist (www.dianasanford.com). My recreational interests include canoeing lakes, rivers, and the ocean; hiking forests, mountains, deserts, and beaches; and getting back to fishing.  My artistic interest is creating wildlife-inspired sculptures with a variety of materials including fabric, fiber, wood, wire, and paint.
